candle colours for spells
When you're unsure on what colour you should use, or you just don't have the right colour available, white candles are perfect for all kinds of spells and rituals.

If you are wishing to remove, banish or release something I usually recommend using black candles. If it is a healing spell and you are working it to remove sickness you can use either black or blue.

A general guide:

  • White = everything, peace, purity, harmony, truth and honesty, protection, positive energies.
  • Black = banishing, removing obstacles, habits and evil, loss or confusion, getting rid of negativity.
  • Yellow = anything to do with study, memory, legal matters, confidence and happiness, new beginnings and sun magick.
  • Orange = attraction, success, business matters and employment.
  • Red = lust, courage, passion and vitality.
  • Pink = love, family, friendship, self love, romance.
  • Purple = spirituality, ambition, business growth and progress, releasing stress and tension, divination.
  • Light Blue = healing, tranquility, compassion, patience.
  • Dark Blue = encouraging adaptability, reducing impulse, banishing depression.
  • Green = money, fertility, wealth, luck, horticulture.
  • Yellow-Green = jealousy, arguments and anger, sickness (to cause).
  • Brown = animals, home, healing work for animals.
Candle magick is by far the most popular forms of spell casting, it is easy to do and you can cast candle spells as simple or elaborate as you'd like to.

Those of Wiccan practice wishing to use candles to represent the God & Goddess -

  • The Goddess candle is traditionally silver, white or green.
  • The God candle is generally red, yellow or gold.
  • The Goddess candle should stand on the left of the altar and the God to the right. (at the back of the Altar).
